An Icon Since 1949

Hotel La Réserve Resort first opened its doors in 1949, by the idyllic Lake Zegemeer in Knokke-Heist. Thanks to its unique location across from Casino Knokke and its refined character, the hotel quickly became a true status symbol. During the golden 1950s and ’60s, La Réserve Resort evolved into a meeting place for the international elite, artists, and global celebrities.

Glamour and Great Names

Over the years, Hotel La Réserve Resort has welcomed an impressive list of famous guests. From Frank Sinatra and Edith Piaf to Brigitte Bardot and René Magritte — the hotel embodied glamour and culture. It became a beloved retreat for artists, fashion icons, and business leaders seeking to combine the tranquillity of Knokke with comfort and elegance.

Vision and Renewal

In 2021, entrepreneurs Bart Versluys and Marc Coucke took over Hotel La Réserve Resort, driven by the ambition to once again establish it as an iconic luxury resort on the Belgian coast. Versluys, a leading figure in high-end real estate, brought his architectural vision and eye for design, while Coucke contributed his expertise in guest experience and hospitality.

Together, they created a holistic concept where architecture, gastronomy, wellness, and events are seamlessly integrated. Under the direction of renowned architect Glenn Sestig, La Réserve Resort was given a new identity — stylish, refined, and once again a benchmark both nationally and internationally.

Hotel La Réserve Resort Today

Restaurant La Rigue quickly became the culinary flagship of Hotel La Réserve Resort. With its refined cuisine, attention to detail, and exceptional setting, it has captivated guests from both near and far. In 2025, its terrace was awarded the title of the most beautiful terrace in Belgium by Gault&Millau, earning a score of 14.5 out of 20.

Beyond its gastronomic delights, La Réserve Resort also offers relaxation and rejuvenation in its fully renovated wellness area, which reopened in the summer of 2024. Both hotel guests and external visitors can enjoy a range of treatments, saunas, a hammam, and a serene environment where design and wellbeing go hand in hand.

At the beginning of 2025, the resort expanded its offerings with the opening of Silver Lakes, a stylish event venue overlooking the Lake Zegemeer. This new space, with its natural light and high-end details, provides the perfect setting for exclusive events, intimate celebrations, and corporate gatherings.

As the crowning achievement of these developments, Hotel La Réserve Resort was awarded the prestigious “Five Stars Superior” label by Tourism Flanders in 2024 — the first hotel on the Belgian coast to receive this highest distinction. This accolade reflects our ongoing commitment to hospitality at the highest level.
